Thursday May 15
National Medal of Honor Museum
1861 AT&T Way
Arlington, TX 76011
Three DFWTH Officers were given a tour of the striking architectural design that makes a dramatic impression standing out from its surroundings. You enter through a sunken, open courtyard, the Rotunda of Honor, a space that functions as the main entrance point into the facility and a public space where we will gather. A conical oculus cut out of the center of the Exhibition Hall above allows light to penetrate down into the Rotunda of Honor. Visitors pass through the Rotunda to arrive at the Exhibition Hall via a pair of glass elevators or by means of two stairs ascending upwards in a spiral.
The museum features engaging interactive exhibits, including artifacts, virtual battlefields, and short films, that provide insight into the Medal of Honor and its recipients. A tremendous amount of thought and planning has gone into this unique museum to honor our nation’s 3,000 plus MOH recipients as well as inspire future generations by telling their stories. If you are impressed by the monuments and museums in Washington DC, you do not want to miss an opportunity to visit the newly opened NMOHM. And what better way than with your fellow DFW Tailhookers.
In discussions with the event coordinator and a member who took the VIP guided tour with an out of town guest, the best ticket is the Limited Availability Full Exhibit + VIP Guided Tour. There are just too many details you don’t want to miss. For the general public the cost is $60, but we will get the $50 military rate. Because of the limited availability of VIP tickets, we must commit and pay the fees by May 1st. The guided tour last 60-90 minutes.
